WAssistant How-To Guide
A complete guide to using every feature in WAssistant.
1. Chat Without Saving Contacts
The core feature of WAssistant is the ability to start a WhatsApp conversation with any
phone number — without saving it to your contacts first. This is the most-used feature and
works on both the web and Android versions.
How to use it
- Open WAssistant (the website or the Android app).
-
Enter the phone number you want to chat with, including the country code. For example:
+1 234 567 8900 for a US number, or +966 50 123 4567 for a Saudi
number.
- Tap the green chat button (the arrow icon).
- WhatsApp will open automatically with a chat window for that number.
- Type your message and send it — done!
Tip: You can include spaces, dashes, or parentheses in the number for
readability — WAssistant will clean them up automatically. For example,
+1 (234) 567-8900 works just fine.
When is this useful?
-
Delivery drivers: You need to message a driver but don't want to save
their number permanently.
-
Online marketplaces: A seller on a marketplace gave you their WhatsApp
number over email — message them without cluttering your contacts.
-
Travel: Someone at a hotel, restaurant, or local service gives you a
number to reach them — just type it and chat.
-
Events and networking: You met someone at a conference and want to send a
quick follow-up but aren't sure you'll stay in touch.
2. Understanding Country Codes
WhatsApp requires phone numbers in international format. This means every number must start
with a + sign followed by the country code. WAssistant makes this easier with a
country code picker in the Android app, and the web version defaults to a
+ prefix.
Common country codes
- +1 — United States, Canada
- +44 — United Kingdom
- +966 — Saudi Arabia
- +971 — United Arab Emirates
- +91 — India
- +20 — Egypt
- +55 — Brazil
- +49 — Germany
- +33 — France
- +81 — Japan
- +86 — China
- +234 — Nigeria
Important: Remove the leading zero from the local number when adding a
country code. For example, a UK number 07700 900123 becomes
+44 7700 900123 (notice the 0 is removed).
3. Generate WhatsApp QR Codes
WAssistant's QR code generator creates a scannable QR code that opens a WhatsApp chat when
scanned. This is available in the Android app.
How to generate a QR code
- Open WAssistant on Android.
- Enter your WhatsApp phone number (with country code).
- Optionally, add a pre-filled message that will appear when someone scans the code.
- Navigate to the QR code section.
-
Your QR code is generated instantly. You can save it as an image or share it directly.
Where to use QR codes
-
Business cards: Add a QR code so clients can chat with you instantly.
-
Restaurant menus: Let customers scan to place orders or ask questions.
-
Storefronts: Print a large QR code on your window so passersby can reach
you.
-
Flyers and brochures: Include a code that says "Scan to chat with us on
WhatsApp."
- Events: Add QR codes to badges, booths, or presentations.
Tip: Test your QR code before printing by scanning it with another phone.
Make sure it opens the correct WhatsApp chat with the right pre-filled message.
4. Create Shareable Chat Links
Chat links are clickable URLs in the format wa.me/<number> that open a
WhatsApp conversation. WAssistant generates these links and lets you add pre-filled
messages.
How to create a chat link
- Enter your WhatsApp number in WAssistant.
-
Optionally type a message you want pre-filled (e.g., "Hi, I'd like more info about your
services").
- WAssistant generates the link. Copy it and share it anywhere.
Where to share chat links
-
Instagram/TikTok bio: Add your chat link so followers can reach you on
WhatsApp.
-
Website contact page: Replace a generic contact form with a direct
WhatsApp link.
- Email signatures: Add "Chat with me on WhatsApp" with your link.
-
Online listings: Include in your Google Maps, Yelp, or marketplace
listings.
-
SMS marketing: Send a text with a WhatsApp link for customers to follow
up.
5. Extract Numbers with OCR
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) lets you point your phone's camera at any text and
extract phone numbers automatically. This feature is available in the WAssistant Android
app.
How to use OCR
- Open WAssistant on Android and go to the OCR/Scan feature.
-
Point your camera at a business card, receipt, sign, or screenshot containing a phone
number.
- WAssistant detects and highlights any phone numbers in the image.
- Tap a detected number to start a WhatsApp chat with it.
What can you scan?
-
Business cards: Quickly grab a number from a card without typing it.
-
Receipts: Some receipts include customer service numbers — scan and chat.
-
Screenshots: Got a number in a screenshot from another app? No need to
type it — just scan.
-
Signs and posters: A restaurant, shop, or service has their number on a
sign? Scan from across the street.
-
Printed documents: Extract numbers from printed invoices, letters, or
forms.
Privacy note: All OCR processing happens on your device using Google ML
Kit. No images or extracted text are sent anywhere. Your scans are private.
6. Generate vCards
A vCard (.vcf file) is a standard format for sharing contact information. WAssistant can
create vCards that you can share via WhatsApp, email, or any messaging app.
How to create a vCard
- Open WAssistant's vCard feature in the Android app.
- Enter the contact details: name, phone number, and optionally an email address.
- Generate the vCard file.
- Share it directly via WhatsApp, email, Bluetooth, or save it to your device.
Why use vCards?
When you send a vCard via WhatsApp, the recipient gets a tappable contact card they can save
with one touch. This is much cleaner than typing out a number in a message and asking
someone to save it manually. It's especially useful for businesses sharing employee
contacts, or for individuals sharing their own details professionally.
7. Web Version vs. Android App
WAssistant is available as both a web app and an Android app. Here's how they compare:
Web version (wassistant.site)
- Works on any device with a browser (iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux).
- No installation required — just visit the website.
- Core phone-to-chat feature available.
- Best for quick, one-off use when you don't want to install anything.
Android app (Google Play)
- All features: phone-to-chat, QR codes, chat links, OCR, vCards.
- Faster and works offline (link generation doesn't need internet).
- Country code picker for easier number entry.
- Integration with Android's share menu — receive shared text from other apps.
- Regular updates with new features.
Recommendation: If you use WhatsApp tools frequently, install the Android
app for the full feature set. For occasional use, the web version at wassistant.site is all
you need.
8. Business Use Cases
WAssistant isn't just for personal use. Many small businesses and freelancers use it to
improve their WhatsApp communication. Here are some common scenarios:
Small retail shops
Print a WhatsApp QR code on your counter or window. Customers can scan it to ask about
product availability, place orders, or get support — all without needing to save your
number.
Freelancers and consultants
Add a chat link to your portfolio website, LinkedIn profile, or business card. Potential
clients can reach you with one tap. Use a pre-filled message like "Hi, I saw your portfolio
and would like to discuss a project."
Real estate agents
Generate QR codes for property listings. Include them on listing pages, signs, or brochures.
Interested buyers can scan and immediately WhatsApp you about a specific property.
Customer support
Create a chat link with a pre-filled message template like "Hi, I need help with my order #"
and share it on your website's support page. Customers start a conversation with context
already included.
Event organizers
Share vCards for key contacts (venue, caterer, coordinator) in a WhatsApp group. Attendees
can save all contacts with one tap each, instead of manually typing numbers from a PDF.
9. Tips and Best Practices
Always include the country code
The most common error is forgetting the country code. WhatsApp requires international
format. If you're messaging someone in Saudi Arabia, the number must start with
+966, not 05.
Test your QR codes and links before sharing
Before printing a QR code or publishing a chat link, test it yourself. Scan the QR code with
a different phone or click the link in an incognito browser to make sure it opens the right
chat with the correct pre-filled message.
Use pre-filled messages strategically
When creating chat links for business, include a pre-filled message that gives you context.
For example: "Hi, I'm interested in [Product Name]" or "Booking inquiry for [Date]." This
saves the customer time and helps you understand what they need without asking.
Keep your contacts list clean
One of the biggest benefits of WAssistant is that it keeps your contacts list from growing
endlessly. Use it for one-time conversations and only save contacts you'll actually need
again.
Combine features for maximum impact
Use QR codes on physical materials (business cards, flyers, shop windows) and chat links on
digital platforms (website, social media, email). This gives people multiple ways to reach
you via WhatsApp, wherever they discover your business.
